Identity Foundation and Connection
Emerging on the other side of the pandemic -- especially as a teenager -- was no easy feat. According to the US Surgeon General’s 2023 report, loneliness is the most critical current national epidemic in the United States. While this spans across all ages, it is the youth of our country who are the most impacted. Since youth already face difficulties such as food insecurity, and gender, educational, and racial inequities, they are more susceptible to the implications of a lack of social connection, belonging, and community.
Now, more than ever, post-pandemic (with the greatest social isolation implications of our generation) we must take a stand to fight this increasing statistic.
